The Director of the Center for Online Teaching and Learning, Dr. Jane Chiroma, attended the East Africa Community Education Conference in Arusha, Tanzania, on August 12–15, where she presented her paper successfully.

The paper, which garnered significant attention from various stakeholders in the education sector, was titled “Harnessing Educational Technology and Online Learning to Educate an African Fit for the 21st Century: A Literature Review on Collective Action for Quality, Inclusive Learning.”

Her presentation highlighted the critical need for East African nations to integrate educational technology (EdTech) and online learning into their curricula to foster 21st-century competencies.

The conference attracted over 750 participants, including researchers, educators, NGOs, academics, funders, and policymakers from the eight EAC member states and beyond.
