PAC University wins regional tender to implement digital skills training in East Africa

PAC University won the German Development Cooperation (GIZ) regional tender to train select universities in the six East Africa Community (EAC) member States on Digital Skills in times of the COVID-19 pandemic. The primary objective of this training is to enable the universities to successfully mainstream e-teaching and learning into their academic delivery systems.

The tender was commissioned by GIZ based on the COVID-19 measures, and funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) under the project Digital Skills for an Innovative East African Industry (dSkills@EA), which is about strengthening advanced digital skills and innovation capacities in the EAC. The implementing partner of the project is the East African Community Secretariat, through the Inter-University Council for East Africa (IUCEA), and the Centre of Excellence for ICT in East Africa (CENIT@EA).

PAC University will provide training in various aspects of online teaching and learning such as creating interactive content, research cycle and digital skills, development of appropriate online courses, online assessment, and use of open-source learning management systems, among others.

The University will design and implement a training schedule through its faculty members who are experts in online teaching and learning, which is anticipated to begin in February of this year.
