Journalists Receive Free Training on Managing Their Mental Well-Being
On May 20, the Psychology Department collaborated with the Communication, Languages, & Linguistics Department to host tens of journalists for a free webinar on how to safeguard their emotional well-being. The webinar was necessitated by the recent horror stories that journalists have been covering, which may ultimately affect their mental well-being.
They were taught self-care skills to help them manage their emotions while executing their duties and to keep their minds healthy. Prof. Margaret Mwenje, Dean of the School of Humanities & Social Sciences, was the primary facilitator, while Isaac Oyuga, Head of the Communication, Languages, & Linguistics Department was the moderator.
Other facilitators included Dr. Kimani Githongo (Advocate and Counselling Psychologist) and Dr. Lucy Gachenia (Counselling Psychologist).
