Communication students take part in world poetry day

On March 21, two students from the Department of Communication, Languages, and Linguistics, Melvin Naliaka and Tasha Mueni, took part in a poetry extravaganza during World Poetry Day at the USIU-Africa. The day’s themes were diversity, corruption, drugs, education, environment, gender, and youth.

The two students demonstrated great talents, emerging among the top five contestants.

The event was graced with the presence of Jerusha Kananu Marete, an award-winning poet, teacher, writer, and performing artist. She is well known for her poem “Salaam, My Motherland Africa” and other literary works.
