University Leadership Holds a Press Briefing on GBV
On December 9, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dionysious Kiambi, accompanied by various Senators and Management Board members, held a press briefing at the Thika Road campus to outline the University’s position on Gender-Based Violence (GBV).
The presser was in solidarity with the rest of the world, which was commemorating the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence.
The VC started by condemning the recent rise in femicide in the country.
“We are deeply concerned that cases of femicide in the country have increased in the recent past. We strongly condemn these barbaric crimes, which continue to endanger women’s safety and dignity,” said Prof. Kiambi.
He further emphasized the University’s belief that every individual is created in God’s image and deserves dignity, respect, and protection, and reaffirmed its commitment to promoting GBV research, discourse, and action.
