Prof. Dionysious Kiambi

Prof. Kiambi Prof. Dionysious Kihika Kiambi is an Associate Professor of Biological Sciences and is currently the Vice Chancellor of Pan Africa Christian (PAC) University. He holds a PhD in Biological Sciences from the University of Birmingham, UK, specializing in molecular genetics and eco-geography. He also holds an MSc in Conservation and Utilization of Plant Genetic Resources from the same University, a BSc (Hons) degree in Botany and Zoology from the University of Nairobi, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Gene Bank Technology from the Royal Veterinary and Agricultural University, Denmark, and the Nordic Gene Bank, Sweden.

He previously served as the Director of Research, Dean of the Graduate School, and Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academic Affairs, at PAC University. Before that, he served as a Senior Scientist at the International Crops Research Institute for Semi-Arid Tropics. He has also worked as a Postdoctoral Research Scientist at McGill University, Canada, and before that, he worked for the International Plant Genetic Resources Institute for 12 years as a Scientist in Genetic Diversity. He also worked as a Senior Lecturer at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology.

Prof. Kiambi has accrued 38 years of experience in agricultural research and development in sub-Saharan Africa.

He is a highly accomplished scholar with 42 papers published in high-impact international refereed journals, 795 citations, and an i10 index of 26. He has also published 46 other publications in the form of international conference papers and book chapters. So far, he has supervised 6 PhDs and 24 Masters students. He serves as a referee for five international journals.

Prof. Kiambi is an accomplished researcher, having led the implementation of 35 research projects nationally, regionally, and internationally as Principal or Co-Principal investigator. He has consulted for several regional and international organizations, including the Food and Agriculture Organization, the United Nations Development Program, the Global Environment Fund, Biodiversity International, and the Global Crop Diversity Trust, among others.

Prof. Kiambi serves on several national and international boards. He is a member of the International Botanical Society and serves as the Alternate Chair of the Open Forum for Agricultural Biotechnology in Africa (OFAB).

He is a founding member of the PAC University Governing Council, where he first served as the Chair of the Academic Committee and later as Chair.

Prof. Kiambi has been actively involved in Church and outreach activities. He has served as a Deacon at Christ is the Answer Ministries (CITAM), HOD of the Visitation Ministry, Chair of the Professionals Fellowship, and Chair of the Men’s Fellowship, among others. He is currently the Chair of the Board of Directors of Evangel Publishing House and the Secretary of the Board of Share International.

He is married, a father, and a grandfather.
