Prof. Joseph Koech

Prof. Joseph K. Koech serves as the Dean of the School of Theology and Associate Professor of Bible and Theology at Pan Africa Christian University. He holds a D.Phil. and M.Phil. in Religion from Moi University and a B.A. in Bible and Theology from Pan Africa Christian University. With 30 years of university-level teaching and research, Prof. Koech combines academic excellence, spiritual maturity, and visionary leadership. His academic interests include Biblical Studies (New Testament), Contemporary Theology, Pentecostal and Charismatic Studies, African Christian Theology, Hermeneutics, and Christian Leadership.

As a scholar, Prof. Koech has published extensively in academic journals and edited volumes, and is the author of The Spirit as Liberator: A Study of Luke 4:14–30 in the African Context. His scholarship explores the intersection of theology, leadership, and contextual ministry, contributing significantly to African theological discourse.

He has served in various academic leadership capacities, including Head of Department, departmental and school-level postgraduate coordinator. He has provided leadership in curriculum development and review, postgraduate regulation reviews, and faculty mentorship. Prof. Koech has successfully supervised numerous master’s and doctoral candidates who now serve in academia, church ministry, and community leadership.

Prof. Koech actively participates in academic and professional forums, having attended and presented papers at national and international conferences and workshops. He serves on editorial boards of theological/academic journals and is a member of several professional bodies advancing theological education and leadership development in Africa. In addition to his academic roles, Prof. Koech has over three decades of pastoral ministry experience marked by effective discipleship, church growth, and leadership training. He also provides community leadership, notably revitalizing a struggling secondary school through infrastructure development and resource mobilization. Prof. Koech exemplifies the integration of scholarship, faith, and leadership, shaping theological
education and Christian ministry.
