Dr. Barnabé Anzuruni Msabah
Dr Anzuruni is Lecturer in the School of Theology, and currently serves as Academic Advisor and Research Chair of the School. He is a holder of a PhD in Practical Theology, with a major in Community Development; MTh in Practical Theology (also majoring in Community Development) and Postgraduate Diploma in Theology – all from the University of Stellenbosch, South Africa. In addition, he is holder of a BA in Theology from the University of Fort Hare, East London, South Africa.
Dr Anzuruni has years of experience as a professional researcher, including having worked until recently as a research consultant at the Unit for Religion and Development Research (URDR) in South Africa. He has been a Postdoctoral Research Fellow for the Department of Practical Theology and Missiology, University of Stellenbosch.
Academically, Dr Anzuruni is interested in understanding the intersection of faith and social practice particularly as relates to transformational development, integral mission, diaconal praxis, and the role of social development agency in the global discourse of theology and development. He has published several articles in accredited peer-reviewed international journals.
Dr Anzuruni has experience in pastoral ministry having served as a pastor for many years at Emmanuel Christian Church (Port Elizabeth, South Africa), and at Stellenbosch International Fellowship (Cape Town, South Africa).
He is married to Dr Susan Anzuruni and, together, they have been blessed with two daughters.
