Master of Arts in Community Development and Social Protection
Master of Arts in Community Development and Social Protection program is designed to empower and equip students to serve as transformational social change agents who can translate the national and global development agenda into reality in African context. This course recognizes the need that communities and individuals in the society need to be equipped with capacities to protect themselves against shocks and how to deal with risks. This program will inculcate much needed skills in designing, implementing and evaluating development programs as a means to achieving sustainable development. The program will further offer skills in advocacy, lobbying and policy development to enhance social justice. Graduates of the program will be competently equipped to serve effectively and professionally as program/project managers in Government ministries, privates sectors and civil societies.
At the end of the Programme, the student should be able to:
- Integrate community development and social protection concepts, theories and principles in solving community development problems
- Identify community problems, design, implement, monitor and evaluate development programs
- Develop and Influence policies in the area of community development and social protection
- Analyse and develop social protection systems
For admission into the program, a candidate must be a holder of a bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution with a minimum GPA of 2.70 or Second class upper division or its equivalent.
