Prof. Margaret Jepkirui Muthwii

Prof. Muthwii is the current Vice Chancellor of Pan Africa Christian (PAC) University, since January 2014. She earned her Ph.D in 1994 at the University of East Anglia (UK), having earned her first Degree from the University of Nairobi. She began her teaching career at the Alliance Girls High School (1981-85) before proceeding to Kenyatta University where she worked in various capacities (1988-2001) as Lecturer, Senior Lecturer and as Head of University Admissions.

After leaving Kenyatta University, she joined the United Bible Societies (UBS) as a scholar, translation consultant, and the Africa Area Translation Coordinator where she led an international team of Translation Consultants. Her last position with the UBS in 2013 was as a Global Translation Advisor.

Her skills and capacity in leadership have developed over time during her service in various governance and leadership roles both in national and international contexts. Some of the institutions she has given her dedicated service include the Global Translation Coordinators Team of the United Bible Societies (UBS) (2006-2012); the UBS Senior Management Team Africa Area (2006 to 2013); the Pan Africa Christian University Council (2008 to 2012); the Africa International University (formerly NEGST and now AIU) as a member of the Governing Council (2005 to 2012) and the Deputy chair of the Governing Council.

In her roles at AIU, she significantly contributed to the steering of NEGST to full university status in Kenya. She also served as a member of the Deacons Board at Nairobi Pentecostal Church (NPC- 2001-2005), a member of the Council of Elders at Christ is the Answer Ministries (CITAM – 2005-2011); and a member of several secondary school Boards of Governors such as Machakos Girls High school.  

Prof. Muthwii is widely published with several books, chapters in books, and papers in many refereed journals. 

She loves thinking through complex matters and finding solutions to obstacles which would otherwise make people achieve less than they are capable of doing
